Sources: Bhangu Expected to Exit Race and Back Caroline Elliott
Langley-Abbotsford MLA Harman Bhangu is expected to withdraw from the BC Conservative leadership race and endorse Caroline Elliott, according to sources within the party.

Langley-Abbotsford MLA Harman Bhangu is expected to withdraw from the BC Conservative leadership race and throw his support behind Caroline Elliott, according to sources within the BC Conservative Party.
The move, which follows fellow candidate Bruce Banman's withdrawal and endorsement of Yuri Fulmer on Sunday, would further consolidate the field ahead of the May 30 leadership vote.
Party insiders say Bhangu, the MLA for Langley-Abbotsford, has been in discussions with Elliott's campaign in recent days. Political observers had long speculated that if Bhangu were to exit the race, Elliott — a former BC United vice-president with deep roots in the party establishment — would be his most likely pick.
Elliott brings extensive experience in provincial party organization and has been campaigning on a platform of party unity and grassroots renewal following the turmoil that surrounded John Rustad's resignation in December 2025.
Bhangu first entered the race as one of nine approved candidates, representing the party's younger generation of MLAs. His endorsement of Elliott would be seen as a significant boost for her campaign, signalling consolidation among the party's legislative wing behind her bid.
The BC Conservative leadership race now stands at eight candidates following Banman's exit, with the field expected to continue narrowing in the weeks ahead. The winning candidate will be announced May 30.
