About
Bruce Banman is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Abbotsford South and the sitting MLA, first elected in 2020. He was originally elected as a BC Liberal (later BC United), crossed the floor to the Conservatives in 2023—helping the party gain official status—and was re-elected as a Conservative in 2024 with about 62% of the vote. He later served as Conservative caucus whip, briefly left the caucus in 2026 amid leadership turmoil (sitting as an Independent and with CentreBC), then rejoined the Conservatives ahead of the October 24, 2026 election. Before provincial politics he was mayor of Abbotsford (2011–2014) and an Abbotsford city councillor (2018–2021). Raised in Chilliwack and long based in Abbotsford, he trained as a chiropractor (Western States Chiropractic College, 1997) and ran a small business before entering elected office.
