About
Sid Tobias is the CentreBC candidate for Esquimalt-Colwood on Elections BC’s accepted nominations list for the 2026 provincial election. He is the mayor of View Royal (elected 2022) and announced in October 2025 that he would not seek municipal re-election in 2026, citing interest in academic and consulting work after nearly 40 years in public service. His background includes about 24 years in the Canadian Armed Forces and roughly 11 years working for the provincial government. As mayor he emphasized livability, safety, affordability and sustainability, and publicly criticized provincial housing legislation’s local impacts.
