BC Election
About
Kevin Diakiw is an Independent candidate for Surrey-White Rock. Peace Arch News reported on October 2, 2026 that the former Surrey journalist is running without a party. The paper described him as an award-winning journalist who left news in 2017 for addiction and recovery work and is now a local business owner. The Surrey Homelessness and Housing Society named him a “Hero of the Homeless” in 2017 for reporting that helped residents understand homelessness. He has said addiction and recovery reform, emergency-room waits, family-doctor access, public safety, and housing will be central to his campaign, and that he is running as an Independent so he answers to the riding rather than a party.
