Connie Larochelle
Connie Larochelle is the BC Green Party candidate for Kootenay-Monashee on Elections BC’s accepted nominations list for the October 24, 2026 provincial election. A 2021 Neighbours United profile described a Connie Larochelle who moved with her husband from Victoria to Trail at the start of the pandemic to be near their daughter, a nurse at the local hospital, renovated an older house, and installed solar panels after decades of environmental advocacy. That community profile was not independently matched in 2026 campaign coverage, and a detailed party biography was not found.
Stephen Hill
Stephen Hill is the OneBC candidate for Kootenay-Monashee on Elections BC’s accepted nominations list for the October 24, 2026 provincial election (candidate report stamped October 3, 2026, 5:00 p.m.). OneBC’s public candidates page did not yet list him at the time of research; BC Ballot and BCPoliTracker show him as OneBC’s filed nominee alongside NDP incumbent Steve Morissette, Conservative Warren Mirko, and Green Connie Larochelle. A Stephen Hill based in Rossland/Trail ran federally for the Conservative Party of Canada in British Columbia Southern Interior in 2011 (second place with 19,273 votes) and was described in Trail Times and Osoyoos Times coverage as a financial advisor and president of a financial-services business with offices in Trail and Grand Forks who moved to Rossland in 1994; public sources have not independently confirmed that this is the same person as the 2026 OneBC nominee.
Steve Morissette
Steve Morissette is the BC NDP candidate for Kootenay-Monashee and the sitting MLA, first elected in 2024. He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development in November 2024. Before provincial politics he served six years as mayor of Fruitvale and four years as a councillor, sat as a municipal director on the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary, and worked as Director of Operations for School District No. 20.
Warren Mirko
Warren Mirko is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Kootenay-Monashee on Elections BC’s accepted nominations list for the 2026 provincial election, challenging NDP incumbent Steve Morissette. A Warfield resident since 2021 and acclaimed Warfield councillor heading into the October 2026 municipal election, he founded and leads the Public Land Use Society, a provincial non-profit focused on land-use policy and Crown land decision-making. He has more than 15 years in public relations, crisis response and risk management supporting regulators including BC Financial Services Authority, Engineers and Geoscientists BC and Transport Canada, and holds a BA in political science from UBC. He also works as a public-affairs consultant and writes on land use, resources and governance.
