Chantel Gibbs
Chantel Gibbs is the OneBC candidate for Vernon-Lumby, filed with Elections BC for the October 24, 2026 election. Born and raised in Vernon, she attended Trinity Western University (BA Business Administration and BSc Chemistry) and obtained her CPA, CGA designation in 2016. After years working in Vancouver in financial planning—including as sole proprietor of Tax Informed Financial Planning—she returned to Vernon in 2024. OneBC and local coverage say she volunteers with her church and Toastmasters and serves as a volunteer director with the Canadian National Christian Foundation; her family has supported Vernon Jubilee Hospital and Vernon Search and Rescue.
Harwinder Sandhu
Harwinder Sandhu is the BC NDP candidate for Vernon-Lumby and the sitting MLA, first elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. She was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture in November 2024 after serving as Parliamentary Secretary for Seniors’ Services and Long-Term Care. Before politics she worked more than 20 years in health care as a registered nurse and patient-care coordinator, including at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and with Northern Health in Terrace.
Kevin Acton
Kevin Acton is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Vernon-Lumby on Elections BC’s accepted nominations list for the 2026 provincial election, challenging NDP incumbent Harwinder Sandhu. He has been mayor of Lumby since 2009 and is also seeking another municipal term in October 2026; if elected MLA he has said a municipal by-election would follow and that he would cover related costs. In 2024 he began as a BC United candidate, continued as an Independent after that party suspended its campaign, and finished third. The Conservatives appointed him for the 2026 rematch, citing decades of local government experience in the North Okanagan.
