Quebec Conservatives Win 19 Seats in Major Breakthrough
The Conservative Party of Quebec will return to the National Assembly with a substantial caucus

The Conservative Party of Quebec will return to the National Assembly with a substantial caucus after winning 19 seats in the provincial election. Party leader Éric Duhaime also secured a seat in Bellechasse, giving the modern party its strongest electoral result.
The Conservatives entered the campaign without an elected caucus and concentrated much of their effort around Quebec City, where the party had performed well without winning seats in 2022. Four years ago, the PCQ received nearly 13 per cent of the province-wide vote but was shut out of the legislature.
Several Conservative candidates won in the Quebec City region, including Karine Laflamme in Lévis, Éloïse Coulombe in Charlesbourg, Karim Elayoubi in Chauveau and Renaud Labrecque in Lotbinière-Frontenac. Maïté Blanchette Vézina, who joined the Conservatives after leaving the CAQ, was also elected in La Peltrie.
The result gives the Conservatives official party status and a significantly larger role in a National Assembly where the Parti Québécois will govern with a minority. Duhaime campaigned on reducing taxes and government spending, allowing greater private-sector involvement in health care and reversing Quebec restrictions on oil and gas development.
The election also marks Duhaime’s first successful bid for a seat since becoming PCQ leader in 2021. He failed to win Chauveau in the 2022 general election and was defeated again in the 2025 Arthabaska byelection.
