The Conservative Party of B.C. has moved ahead of the governing NDP in a new Liaison Strategies poll, with 43 per cent support among decided and leaning voters compared with 37 per cent for the NDP. The Greens sit at 10 per cent, while OneBC and other parties each have four per cent and CentreBC has three per cent.
The poll also found declining support for Premier David Eby. Thirty-four per cent of respondents approve of his performance while 48 per cent disapprove, compared with 38 per cent approval and 45 per cent disapproval in Liaison’s previous survey. Fifty-four per cent of respondents now believe B.C. is headed in the wrong direction, while 30 per cent say the province is on the right track.
The Conservatives hold their strongest advantage outside Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island, leading the NDP 54 to 30 per cent in the rest of the province. Their Metro Vancouver advantage is narrower at 40 to 38 per cent, while the NDP leads 44 to 32 per cent on Vancouver Island. Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson is viewed favourably by 30 per cent and unfavourably by 35 per cent.
